Dr. Trokel, the "father" of laser vision correction, is the first to have published medical papers regarding laser vision correction and is a patent holder for the technology with VISX. Dr. Brian Stahl is a Dayton native, and practices in Kettering. He is an associate professor of Ophthalmology at the Ohio State University, where he did his training. Dr. Stahl pioneered laser vision correction in Dayton and treated the first patient done from the Miami Valley. He was the first in Ohio to perform Lasik for hyperopia, and the first in Ohio to offer laser enhancements such as smoother ablations and larger treatments. These advancements have been important in improving vision with laser vision correction.
